Susan Dixon

Susan is a powerhouse advocate for educators, having led CalRTA to a historic victory with the repeal of WEP and GPO—restoring fairness to thousands of retired teachers across the nation.

​Susan Dixon served as the President of the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA), leading the organization in its mission to advocate for the interests of retired and active educators. Under her leadership, CalRTA achieved a significant milestone with the signing of the Social Security Fairness Act on January 5, 2025, which repealed the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) penalties. Dixon's dedication to pension protection and public education has been instrumental in advancing the organization's goals and supporting educators throughout California

Susan's commitment to education spans over three decades, having retired in June 2015 after 35 years in public education in California. Throughout her career, she held various leadership roles, including PTA Board member, School Improvement Coordinator, BTSA Support Provider, Master Teacher, and President of the San Clemente High School Foundation.

Under her leadership, CalRTA achieved a significant milestone with the signing of the Social Security Fairness Act on January 5, 2025, which repealed the WEP and GPO penalties. Dixon expressed that CalRTA members were "thrilled" about the new law. ​

Susan continues to lead CalRTA in advocating for retired and active educators, focusing on pension protection and support for public education.
