About
Former California K-12 leaders, now consulting the districts we came from.
School Leaders is a California-only consulting firm. Our advisors are former superintendents, chief business officials, facilities directors, and M&O leaders with decades of experience inside California school districts. We help districts plan and execute the consequential work — bond programs, master plans, leadership transitions, operational improvements — and we build free AI-augmented tools so even districts that never hire us get value from the same expertise.
What we do
Three pillars, seven services, eight free tools.
Our consulting work organizes around three pillars: Bond & Facilities (program management, master planning, needs assessments, FIT reports), Leadership (superintendent search, governance training), and Staff Augmentation (interim CBOs, superintendents, facilities directors).
We also publish eight free AI-augmented tools that put the same analysis we'd run on a consulting engagement into the hands of any California district leader who wants it — no login, no sales conversation required. The toolkit lives at /tools.
This combination is intentional. The consulting work funds the firm. The tools establish that we know what we're talking about — and that we're willing to give that expertise away.
How we work
What you can expect from us.
California-only
We work exclusively with California school districts. Every advisor knows Ed Code, FCMAT engagement standards, OPSC, FIT, and the Williams Act — because they've operated under them.
Direct, not glossy
Districts don't need another deck. We tell you what we'd do in your seat, in plain language, with the math shown. If we can't help, we say so.
Hold up under audit
Bond programs get audited. Master plans get challenged. Multi-year projections get reviewed by the county. We build deliverables that hold up when the scrutiny arrives.
On your side
We're hired by the district, paid by the district, accountable to the district. No vendor relationships, no kickback structure, no conflicts pulling our recommendations.
The team
Twenty advisors with the resumes you'd hope for.
Our advisors hold the recognitions that come from operating at the top of California K-12: the James L. Murdoch Lifetime Achievement Award, ACSA Regional Superintendent of the Year, Orange County Technology Administrator of the Year, USC Rossier CBO instructorship, CASH Maintenance Academy founder, Green Buildings board membership, and pioneer of Vision 2035 — a roadmap for instructional innovation, equity-based budgeting, and student-centered redesign.
