Jay Dixon is a seasoned expert in school facilities management, known for his strategic approach to modernizing educational environments and optimizing facility operations. His extensive experience as both an educator and a consultant gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of learning and infrastructure, making him a valuable asset to Dixon & Associates.

Jay’s career includes leadership roles in major bond program management and facility planning. At the Fruitvale School District, he managed a $23 million bond program, securing an additional $16 million in state matching funds. His oversight ensured that key upgrades—such as roofing, HVAC installations, portable classroom replacements, and site access compliance—were completed on time and within budget.

At the Garvey School District, Jay led the development of a comprehensive Facility Master Plan, engaging stakeholders to create educational specifications that guide future capital projects. This foundational plan aligns district resources with long-term strategic goals, ensuring sustainable improvements for years to come.

Jay also contributed to the Anaheim Elementary School District by developing a Comprehensive Deferred Maintenance Plan, which prioritized essential repairs and established a proactive approach to facility upkeep. This plan not only addressed immediate needs but also optimized district resources for future maintenance.

In addition to his practical experience, Jay’s academic achievements include studies at Columbia Business School and a Master’s degree in English Literature from National University. He has managed large-scale facility operations involving over 2,000 tons of HVAC-R systems and led multi-million dollar construction and modernization projects across California.

Jay’s involvement with the DSA Statewide Task Force highlights his commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in school facilities. As a former teacher and facility committee member at Berkeley County School District, Jay also understands the educational impact of well-designed learning environments, adding depth to his comprehensive approach to school facility management.
